Integrated Research's IP telephony expert, Dr Fiona Lodge to speak at VoiceCon Spring
Systems Management for IP Telephony
20 Feb 2007
For those going to VoiceCon Spring in Orlando this year, Dr Fiona Lodge, PROGNOSIS Product Manager at Integrated Research, will be participating in panel session exploring management issues for the entire VoIP and unified communications environments.
Systems Management for IP Telephony
VoiceCon Spring session: Wednesday, March 7 at 2:45pm, Room Osceola B
VoiceCon: Gaylord Palms, Orlando Florida, 8 - 9 March 2007
The session will help attendees understand
- How to manage voice traffic that runs over a data network.
- The tools and metrics that inform you about the performance of voice on the network, and how to remotely manage network elements.
- Trends in managing voice systems that encompass not just the IP PBX, but peripherals and new applications like unified messaging as well.
Key questions to be addressed:
- Are packet loss, jitter and delay the only key metrics?
- Does every system do an equally good job measuring these metrics?
- What other metrics should you consider?
- How can you get visibility on what voice quality is actually being delivered, versus simply extrapolating this information from packet-measurement data?
- How do you manage a network in real time, rather than simply relying on alarm thresholds or performance averages?
- How does management of voice systems fit into the overall enterprise network management structure?
- Is it simply an element in the manager-of-managers?
- How are voice applications best managed?
This panel will be moderated by Gary Audin, president, Delphi, Inc.
Speakers will include:
- Fiona Lodge, IP Telephony Product Manager, PROGNOSIS by Integrated Research
- Andrew Hunkins, Chief Technology Officer, Unimax
- Susan Anderson, Director of Product Marketing, CA
- Loki Jorgenson, Chief Scientist, Apparent Networks
