PROGNOSIS Smart Plug In (SPI) for HP OpenView incorporates the benefits of PROGNOSIS’ extensive real-time monitoring, filtering and thresholds into the OpenView Operation (OVO) environment, allowing greater leveraging of your existing investment in the OpenView framework. The in-depth realtime metrics enabled by PROGNOSIS are exposed into the OVO environment, extending the monitoring and management infrastructure in a standard way across the enterprise.

The proven PROGNOSIS architecture is optimized for missioncritical, real-time systems and application monitoring and provides “best of breed” HP NonStop performance management. The OVO framework is targeted at operations and problem management on an enterprise level, providing tracking of problems and helping to manage the people and processes to fix them. Together, PROGNOSIS and OVO provide
new capabilities that give organizations advanced monitoring and management of their total environment.

To complement management to service levels, PROGNOSIS SPI for HP OpenView incorporates Systems Infrastructure and Application Service Views. Selective filtering to both Service Views and Message Browsers provides real-time visibility into critical business infrastructure.

Streamlined operations between OVO and HP NonStop servers

PROGNOSIS Smart Plug In (SPI) for HP OpenView provides the interface between the HP NonStop servers and the OVO Management Server. PROGNOSIS determines which servers are to be monitored and managed by OVO and automatically populates these into the OVO node bank. PROGNOSIS dynamically populates and updates the Service Views, and the Message Browser, with filtered events from the managed HP NonStop servers.

PROGNOSIS provides out-of-the-box service views for both Applications and System Infrastructure and these can be customized according to your business topology.

A full range of pre-configured thresholds, complete with operator instruction text, is available to ensure your HP NonStop resources and applications are always available and performing according to service level requirements. Adding to, or modifying, the supplied thresholds is achieved in a matter of minutes.

PROGNOSIS also provides capabilities for both operatorinitiated actions, and automated actions, as defined through OVO policies and/or templates. Specific object instances are identified through PROGNOSIS threshold attributes, enabling exact substitution to be automated prior to the action being
initiated.
