PROGNOSIS Software Monitoring

ROGNOSIS Software Monitoring is a member of the PROGNOSIS for HP NonStop systems management suite. It simplifies the management of your business applications through automated registering and tracking of all software objects.

You will discover how easy it is to manage your software with PROGNOSIS, because it automates the time-consuming task of collecting status information for hundreds of objects at the node and network level.

PROGNOSIS Software Monitoring gives you a complete view of your NonStop software applications by continuously maintaining an inventory of all Guardian, third-party, userdeveloped, and Pathway SCOBOL programs.

The wide range of displays allow you to easily identify whether software has been updated, whether the correct version is being run, and when it was last compiled, released or used.

  PROGNOSIS Software Monitoring

PROGNOSIS improves the overall performance of your system by ensuring that outdated, unused, or duplicate programs are identified and removed.

It highlights RISC accelerated code, allowing you to achieve dramatic reductions in run times. It also identifies code containing symbol information, which is wasting disk space.

With PROGNOSIS Software Monitoring you can be automatically notified when any program is added, deleted or changed. This gives you absolute control over your critical business applications.

Automatic monitoring of all software. Preconfigured displays allow the status of all object files to be automatically monitored, including Guardian, in-house software and all Pathway SCOBOL libraries.
Sophisticated management reporting. PROGNOSIS maintains an audit trail listing all software inventory updates and provides many reports to help you manage your business applications more effectively.
Automatic version numbering. PROGNOSIS assigns each object a unique version number, so you can be assured that the correct software version is always being used. Software Monitoring reports product numbers that can be matched to your purchase invoices, enabling you to accurately track your expenses.

PROGNOSIS Software Monitoring is an asset tracking and management system for all of the software residing on your HP NonStop systems. This user-friendly product requires no configuration parameters.

PROGNOSIS gives you the ability to track and analyze NonStop system software, user programs, Pathway SCOBOL programs and third-party software on an individual node or for the whole network.

All object files are periodically checked, with change and status information being interpreted so that sophisticated reporting can be performed. Many conditions can be monitored such as mismatching release levels, too many objects, unauthorized changes or last date of use.

Simple or complex early warning thresholds can be set to alert you when exception conditions occur, such as unauthorized code changes, mismatched release levels or redundant software.

By identifying unused or duplicate programs and inefficient software with symbols or non-accelerated RISC code, PROGNOSIS helps you achieve cost savings through improved disk utilization.

PROGNOSIS also shows you what languages your object files were written in and when the program was last compiled. It keeps track of object installation times and time between replacement versions of the code. Management of Pathway SCOBOL software is also made easy as all programs are tracked automatically in every Pathway SCOBOL library file.
